A Piano Fairytale in Périgord: Ad Manaurem 1762 Masterclass

France – June 29th to July 6th, 2024

In the picturesque village of Saint-Jean-de-Côle, nestled in the verdant Périgord Vert, an extraordinary musical collaboration unfolded for the very first time. Petra was teaching a masterclass to pianists from the top three music academies in Europe —London, Paris, and Vienna.

Participants had numerous piano sessions and also benefitted from the expertise of Zurich-based singer and vocal coach Petra Andrensek.

“My job was to guide the musicians on a path from the piano instrument on the outside to the voice instrument within.”

Her approach underlined the importance of interdisciplinary learning in the development of a well-rounded musician. “I’ve been avoiding fillers and stuttering since the voice coaching,” said pianist Milda Daunoraite praising the practical benefits of these sessions. Equipped with the knowledge he can use in future job interviews, competitions, and interviews, pianist Bocheng Wang found the experience transformative. “The masterclass and voice coaching helped me on another level,” Wang shared. “It’s like solving secrets within the music.” Pianist Erik Breer genannt Nottebohm found the experience deeply rewarding and said: “I learned to hear what I am playing in advance.”

Thank you, Ad Manaurem 1762, for this beautiful initiative and invitation.
